Unusual Suspects of Celtic Colours
The original Unusual Suspects was created by David Milligan and Corrina Hewat in Scotland. In 2004, the Suspects went international and debuted at Celtic Colours with a combination of mostly Scottish and Cape Breton players. When this big band, playing a repertoire of traditional music, arranged for a folk orchestra hit our stages, nobody really knew what to expect, but everybody loved it, and they caused such a stir that we brought them back in 2006. This year's edition is arranged and directed by David and Corrina, along with Allie Bennett, and features artists from Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton, BC, Isle of Man, and Wales on instruments ranging from fiddle and piano to electro-harp, pipes, flutes, accordions, a horn section and percussion.
