Frances MacEachen was co-founder, publisher, and editor of the bilingual quarterly Am Bràighe from 1993-2003, which focused on Nova Scotia’s distinct Gaelic tradition. In 2003, she began working for the Province of Nova Scotia and co-created programs to support language and cultural recovery, including the mentorship program Bun is Bàrr. She is also a co-founder of the cross-cultural initiative MAGIC (The Mi’kmaq, Acadians and Gaels of Inverness County). She enjoys learning about Gaelic songs, composers, and singers and sharing songs with others who love Cape Breton’s Gaelic song tradition. Frances will be performing with Lili and Colin Watson in this year’s Festival.
