Adrianne & Mike Gorey
Unified in life and song, Adrianne Chapman and Mike Gorey blend Celtic and Folk music drawn from their Cape Breton roots. The duo have found harmony together in performing traditional music, telling tales of the hardships of East Coast life, as well as spinning their own original yarns; Adrianne’s sweet voice intertwining with Mike’s skilled songwriting. Written straight from the heart, their own music touches on themes that resonate widely on the East Coast, performed alongside traditional tunes and songs that reflect the same sentiment. Adrianne is the great-grandneice of Cape Breton fiddler Winston “Scotty” Fitzgerald, a music instructor and seasoned performer while Mike is an accomplished songwriter. Recipients of the Celtic Colours Drive’ers Association “Big Sampie” award in 2014, they released their debut album, Where the Heart Lies, in October 2015. Regular performers at folk festivals around Nova Scotia, the duo releases their new EP, The Family Album, in spring 2017.
