Bill "The Guitar" Elliott was born into and gifted from a musical family. From these influences, he went on to become an accomplished, multi-instrumentalist with guitar, old-time fiddle, mandolin and banjo. His unique and versatile guitar style earned him the distinction of being named first recipient of the Canadian Certified Guitar Player CCGP in 2015. He started recording when he was 14. In 2004, his family recording, The Elliotts Shiftin' Gears (Instrumental), was nominated for an East Coast Music Award. Bill has performed in Canada, the USA and the Shetland Islands. He has toured with acclaimed Cape Bretoners Matt Minglewood and JP Cormier, traded licks with Tim Edey and opened for Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. In 2006, the Elliott Family was awarded the Volunteer Family of the Year NS, presented by Premier Rodney MacDonald. Bill and his wife, Natalie, are Artistic Directors of two venues, bringing world class musicians to perform in the villages of Economy and Bass River, most notably a Floodsgiving Concert in Economy in support of Cape Breton Flood victims. Bill continues to perform professionally and answers the call to volunteer for charities and fundraisers.
