Corrina Hewat

Scotland

Corrina Hewat is co-founder and co-musical director of the extravagantic 22-piece Unusual Suspects – and of the international version, the Unusual Suspects of Celtic Colours. She is also a skilled and innovative composer and arranger, having written many large scale commissions, and musically directing a variety of themed shows. A past Artist in Residence, Corrina is a founder member of distinct bands such as Bachue, Shine, and Grace, Hewat & Polwart, all of whom played at Celtic Colours in past years. Born in Edinburgh and raised in the Scottish Highlands, her huge range of musical influences has contributed greatly to her very individual take on traditional music, and the singer, harpist and composer is widely recognized as one of Scotland’s most unique and innovative musicians. The essence of Corrina’s music lies in her passion for Scottish traditional music and song, but what sets it apart is her effortless blending of other musical genres. She performs with a reverence for tradition and a dedication to innovation.
