Prince Edward Island

Pepeto Pinto is a Jamaican-born professional steelpan player, arranger, composer, and instrument maker. His musical journey began in High school, when the Jamaican style steel pans were being introduced into the school programs. Pepeto studied at the Edna Manley School of Music in Kingston, Jamaica, and later performed professionally in the island’s resort hotels. To expand his musical experience, he started a band, Versonic Vibes, and performed with some of the greatest musicians in the country. His music is lively and includes a variety of genres including Jazz, Soca, Classical, Classics, Flamenco, Gipsy, Soul, Pop, Reggae, Latin and more recently, Celtic. Driven by his passion and philosophy for the sounds of steel, he has built and developed his own unique sound of both the steel drums and hand pan instruments. In 2014, Pepeto founded the Solos Steel Instruments and branded it Pinto Pans. His new creation of hand pans is called S.O.L.O.S, Sound of love on Steel. Pepeto, while expanding his knowledge of the sound of steel, continues to perform and showcase his work at various festivals and shares his instruments by manufacturing and selling them in Canada and around the world. He is now based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
