The Broussards

Cape Breton

Paryse, Olivier and Julien Broussard are siblings from Port Hawkesbury. Olivier and Julien started playing fiddle after the passing of their great-grandfather, Francis. They began lessons with Eddy Rodgers, who introduced them to the music of Winston “Scotty” Fitzgerald. Like Winston Scotty, their heritage is Irish and French, yet they embrace the music of the Scottish Gaels. They have also been students of the great Kinnon Beaton, who shared many tasty tunes with them and influenced their vintage sound and ornamentation. Paryse has studied Cape Breton piano chording with several teachers, including Jennifer Bowman, Melissa Emmons, and Tracey Dares MacNeil. She enjoys chording along with her siblings. Together this family band is a powerful trio with a classic Cape Breton sound and vintage style.
