This event will be hosted by Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church in  Middle River located at 1948 Cabot Trail Road.  The event is a Gaelic church service with a Gaelic sermon by Reverend Peter Mac Donald, a Gaelic Psalm and Gaelic hymns by the Saint Anne’s Gaelic Choir. The event will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 A. M.   The Kirkin O’ the Tartans will provide the opportunity for those present to bring their clan tartans to be blessed and the families it represents by the minister in Gaelic as part of the service.  Any questions may be directed to gmaciver@ns.sympatico.ca.  At the end of the service  a good will collection will be taken to support this event.

The service harkens back to an early American Scottish Presbyterian practice where different families brought their clan tartans to be blessed.  This practice reflects back to the time in Scotland when the wearing of tartans were banned by the British Government. This event can be considered both a learning opportunity concerning  the Scottish clans and their family tartans.
