Music has a way of uniting people, and when that music is played in a church, well, it just adds a little something extra special, doesn’t it? Tonight’s concert will definitely be something special. Just when it seems that Antigonish County native Troy MacGillivray has played with everyone you’ve ever heard of, he shows up with a new combo. This year the past Artist in Residence is playing a couple of shows with a newcomer to the Festival, and someone very familiar to Cape Breton and Celtic Colours audiences. Fiddler Caitlin Warbelow spent seven years on Broadway with the hit musical Come From Away and has toured with Celtic Colours alumni Cherish the Ladies, The Alt, and the Cathie Ryan Band. Tracey MacNeil completes this trio with her expressive and versatile piano playing. Members of JUNO nominated, Canadian Folk Music Award winning neo-folk quintet Aerialists, Elise Boeur and Adam Iredale-Gray explore fiddle music in fluid, easy lockstep. They each spent years touring as collaborators with diverse projects, and all along they were playing fiddle tunes at sessions, folk dances, and afterparties. With this duo project, they give you a peek at these musical after-hours socials. Donnie Campbell and Jinks O’Neill have been performing together for ten years and draw on a vast repertoire of music from the folk revival and classic country, along with the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, and Cape Breton Island.
