Gather in Skye Glen, home of renowned Gaelic singers and composers, for a traditional milling frolic. Milling (waulking) by hand causes woven cloth to shrink, making it tighter and warmer. Frolics were a popular way to share labour and socialize. Gaels added songs in their language, often humorous, to lighten their work while keeping the rhythm needed to produce quality fabric. Gaelic singers from around Cape Breton will lead this frolic. Learn some local songs and share some of your own. All are welcome to join in the singing and milling, or you may want to simply soak in the culture. Srùbag (cup of tea and light lunch) will be served.
