Mckayla began playing the violin at the young age of five. Through the progression of her musical career, she has been influenced by many instructors, and studied both classical violin and traditional Cape Breton fiddle with Kyle MacNeil. She can often be found performing at various concerts and benefits in Cape Breton. Mckayla has also had the pleasure of performing on stage with the Barra MacNeils on a number of occasions. She is a dedicated member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association and has performed with them at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, on their 2008 trip to Scotland and England, and on their trip to Boston in 2015. Mckayla recently graduated from the Bachelor of Science program at Dalhousie University, where she majored in neuroscience. She plans to return this fall to complete a Master's Degree in audiology.
