It's the weekend and time for some foot-stomping fun. With deep roots in Cape Breton’s Gaelic culture, All Fired Up brings the Inverness County style to the stage tonight with pipes, fiddle, piano, guitar and Gaelic song, while the MacDonald brothers from Ironville are teamed up with some of the best in this Irish-influenced double fiddle, piano, guitar and bass combo. They may find some tunes in common with Liz Doherty and her flock who will be joined by Irish sean-nòs dancer Joe McGuiggan. April Verch and Joe Newberry’s harmonic blend of voices, and tasteful instrumentals will remind you why this music even exists. And Gaelic singer and piper Griogair Labhruidh presents us with an exciting new vision of the tradition. Whether he’s luring a puirt to beul into a hip-hop infused Gaelic rap, or jazzing up an old Gaelic song on the guitar, this widely-regarded artist honours the music’s roots. Let the foot-stomping time begin!
