Whycocomagh, Inverness County resident Rob MacLean was raised on the south shore of Montreal, where his passion for music was ignited at a young age. Growing up in a family of music enthusiasts, he was exposed to a diverse range of music, from classic rock to country to folk. The singer-songwriter’s musical journey began in his teenage years when he picked up his first guitar. After he moved back to Cape Breton Island with his parents, he really dove into music. He developed an appreciation and love for music from Cape Breton and the east coast that would influence his musical style. Rob started writing songs characterized by heartfelt lyrics that he delivered with soulful, powerful vocals backed by intricate guitar work and quickly gained attention in local music circles. After years of playing in local bands, he pursued a solo career and released two albums—his critically-acclaimed debut Two Little Angels, and Live with his good friend, Cape Breton singer-songwriter Cyril MacPhee. Known for his intimate and captivating live performances, Rob has toured up and down the east coast, Quebec and Ontario. His ability to connect with the audience through his music turns each show into an unforgettable experience. Rob MacLean’s music is a testament to the power of honest storytelling and the enduring appeal of acoustic melodies. With each song, he invites listeners on a journey through the landscapes of his heart and mind, leaving a lasting impression.
