Aidan, Cameron, and Emma MacNeil

Aidan MacNeil began piping at age 11 while Cameron started at age 10, with Trevor Kellock. Both are lead harmony players with the Cape Breton University grade 4 Pipe Band and Aidan serves as Pipe Major of the grade 5 band where he is also a teacher and mentor to new members. Cameron is a Gaelic language student and thoroughly enjoys looking for new music to learn and composing tunes. With the CBU Pipe Band, Aidan and Cameron have played in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Youth Band and with the Chieftains at Celtic Colours. They have travelled to compete both with the band and solo, winning many awards including North American Pipe Band Championships for grade 5 in 2019, and have recently taken up highland dance with MacArthur School of Dance. Aidan has been duty piper at Colaisde na Gàidhlig / the Gaelic College during summers while Cameron has offered chanter and bagpipe lessons with Féis an Eilein in Christmas Island. Aidan and Cameron will be joined by their sister Emma on piano at the Festival this year.
