Eric Angus Whyte

Cape Breton

Eric Angus Whyte is a Cape Breton songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Since 2004 he has released three solo albums and earned two ECMA nominations. For 17 years he was a member of the Louisbourg Playhouse production Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter. His songs have been covered by artists in the UK and Ireland. In 2009, Edinburgh band Giveway used his song as the title track for their album, Lost In This Song, produced by Phil Cunningham. Over the years he has toured North America and Europe, both as a solo artist and as a sideman for others. His most recent album, Luddite Sons produced by Stephen Fearing (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings), was featured in West Yorkshire’s 200th anniversary commemoration of the Luddite uprisings. He has collaborated and performed with Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, and Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo). His fingerstyle guitar playing is distinct and his concerts are delightful, with a mix of unique instruments and storytelling. He is pleased to be performing alongside Rose Morrison and Mary Jane Lamond at this year’s Festival.
