Janelle and James Boudreau

Cape Breton

Janelle Boudreau is from the Acadian community of Isle Madame, located on the southern coast of Cape Breton Island. She started step dancing at the age of five and started playing the fiddle at the age of 12. Janelle has performed at local festivals and concerts, usually with her dad on guitar and her sister on the bodhran. She has also played and danced in the NWT, California, Scotland, and France. Along with being part of a dance troupe for more than ten years, she has taught step dance with the Antigonish Creative Dance Association and has competed on numerous occasions at the InStep with Cape Breton Dance Festival. Janelle will be accompanied on guitar by her father James Boudreau.

Janelle Boudreau vient de la région acadienne de l’Isle Madame, située sur la côte sud du Cap-Breton. Elle danse depuis l’âge de 5 ans et a commencé à jouer le violon à l’âge de 12 ans. Janelle participe aux concerts et aux festivals locaux, souvent accompagnée par son père à la guitare et sa soeur au bodhran. Elle a joué et dansé au TNO, en Californie, en Écosse et en France. Elle fut membre d’une troupe de danse pour plusieurs années, a enseigné la danse avec “Antigonish Creative Dance Association” et elle a compétitionné plusieurs fois dans le cadre du “InStep with Cape Breton Dance Festival”. Janelle sera accompagnée par son père à la guitare.
