Help celebrate the return of Celtic Colours International Festival this October with a night of great music, live and in person, featuring Beòlach, David Francey, and Mary Jane Lamond!
As Celtic Colours International Festival prepares to return to live, in-person concerts this fall, Festival organizers have been working on a little something special to celebrate. Two concerts, “Celtic Colours Live and In Person”, will be presented in July to offer a little taste of what’s in store this October. These concerts, taking place in Glace Bay and Mabou, will coincide with this month’s launch of the Festival and announcement of the full artist lineup and concert schedule.
Featuring Festival favourites David Francey, Mary Jane Lamond, and Beòlach, Celtic Colours Live and In Person will take to the stage at Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay on Tuesday, July 26 and Strathspey Performing Arts Centre in Mabou on Wednesday, July 27 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $10 plus a food or monetary donation to local food banks—the Glace Bay Food Bank for the Savoy show and Cape Breton South Western Food Bank for the concert at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre.
It’s been years since David Francey has performed at Celtic Colours, seven years in fact, and the multiple Juno award-winner’s storytelling song-writing style and heartfelt singing have been truly missed. Gaelic singer and culture-bearer Mary Jane Lamond could be considered Celtic Colours royalty by now. The past Artist in Residence (2001, 2006) has only missed the Festival twice since it started in 1997. And Cape Breton supergroup Beòlach got its start at Celtic Colours, during a late-night, impromptu session at Festival Club in 1999. Their blend of traditional and contemporary tunes, superb musicianship, enthusiastic dancing, and good-natured stage presence has kept this award-winning group in high demand around the world ever since.
