When two celebrated groups hit milestone anniversaries in the same year, it calls for something special. Solas marks thirty years of pushing musical boundaries and blending Irish and American folk traditions, while Beòlach celebrates twenty-five years of high-energy arrangements and musical camaraderie. Together on one stage, these bands offer a rare glimpse into how Celtic music has grown and thrived across decades. Back in the mid-1990s, Solas became one of the most sought-after Celtic bands in North America and beyond. Their music was innovative and exciting, featuring traditional tunes in beautifully-crafted arrangements and they quickly became a major inspiration to up-and-coming traditional musicians worldwide. Beòlach were super fans of the music of Solas and soon found themselves sharing stages with them at festivals near and far. It’s exciting to have both bands joining forces at the Savoy for an evening of powerful, traditional music. This special anniversary concert will showcase the music of two bands who have invested considerable time and creative energy into making these old and new tunes mature into timeless, well-crafted creations that have made their way around the world. Cape Breton’s MacArthur Dancers will also bring an exciting visual element to this concert with their original choreography.
