There’s no better way to spend a long weekend than to get together with pals, enjoy some fabulous live music, and if you so choose, to raise a glass at this 19+ event. With a magnificent array of music that encompasses both enduring tradition and tradition reborn, tonight’s event honours both the past and the future. And it’s a cabaret so there’s plenty of time for each of these artists to stretch out in their set. Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord is made up of five friends whose intense, joyful, and dynamic live performances expand the bounds of tradition. Hauler returns to the Festival this year, weaving together traditional Irish and Scottish ballads, indie folk originals, and traditional and contemporary instrumentals with a modern acoustic approach that proves Cape Breton music can re-invent itself. It’s not often that a new voice arises out of an ancient tradition, but that is exactly what Ireland’s Diane Cannon is bringing to the stage as an Irish singer this evening. Buckle up, because you’re in for a craic’n good time!
