For nearly sixty years, Cape Breton’s Men of the Deeps choir has been travelling the world as Canadian Ambassadors, preserving some of our rich Cape Breton folklore and culture. Through stories and song, they share a sense of what life was like as a miner in a mining town. And these guys know what they’re talking about as the members of this choir are all former coal miners. The Dublin Trio is a brand-new ensemble featuring bodhrán player and vocalist Kevin Conneff, guitarist Tony Byrne and piper, whistle and accordion player Joe McKenna. All three have strong pedigrees, and this collaboration bears the hallmarks of musicians whose appetites for adventure and exploration are as hearty as they ever were. And it wouldn’t seem right to have a concert in Inverness County without a good blast of Cape Breton tunes, so we’ve lined up Howie MacDonald, Beverly MacLean, and Sandy MacDonald for that. Make your way to Inverness tonight for an evening of music that could only come from deep in the heart.
