Calum MacPhee and Curt Dillon

Cape Breton

Inspired by his uncle, the late Ralph Dillon, Mira native Curt Dillon began performing in pubs and bars around Sydney and surrounding communities in the late 1990s, quickly establishing himself as a popular performer on the local scene. Calum MacPhee grew up in Big Pond, immersed in a musical family deeply embedded in Cape Breton’s traditional music scene. Inspired early on by his father, Malcolm MacPhee (The Sons of Skye), Calum developed a profound love for music and began performing publicly at a young age. His vibrant guitar style and emotive vocals soon made him a favorite in pubs and festivals across Canada. When Curt and Calum found themselves in southern Ontario in the early 2000s, they started performing as a duo, captivating audiences with their engaging stage presence, versatile repertoire, and signature vocal harmonies. Their well-blended harmonies have become a defining feature of their performances, drawing praise from both audiences and fellow musicians alike. Back in Cape Breton, they continued their musical collaboration and have delighted audiences throughout the island, performing regularly at pubs, special events, and cultural gatherings.
