Dennis & Lori Cox

Dennis and Lori Cox are a folk music duo who were active in the Cape Breton music scene in the 1970s after emigrating from the “Boston States.” Touring throughout Canada and the northern United States, they gained recognition in folk clubs, on CBC, and at festivals alongside artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, and Cape Breton’s own Rita MacNeil. Their album, The Welcome Table, followed a 1979 cross-Canada tour. Dennis’s musical roots began with his father’s country band and were honed playing with blues musicians in New Orleans and at the legendary Lena’s Café in upstate New York. Their son, Jesse Cox, continues the tradition, releasing his debut album, Threshing Floor, in 2021.
