Les Étoiles Acadiennes

Cheticamp

Founded in September 2024, this vibrant troupe from Chéticamp, Inverness County is dedicated to celebrating and sharing the art of traditional Acadian step dancing. Comprised of dancers aged 18 to 33, the group brings cultural pride, precise footwork, and infectious energy to every performance. All members were once part of La Swing du Suête, and most began dancing as young as age two to five. After aging out of the youth troupe, a few friends found themselves reminiscing about how much they missed dancing, and realized there was no space for alumni to continue sharing this part of their culture. From that conversation, a new troupe was born—a flexible, commitment-free group where former Swing members could come together, create new dances, and keep the tradition alive. As young adults with busy lives, jobs, and families, the group was intentionally built with no pressure or expectations. Of the 12 members, not everyone performs at every event, but there’s always a core group of three or four dancers ready to step in when needed. It’s this blend of freedom, passion, and shared history that keeps the dance and the joy alive.
