Madison Violet is a Juno-nominated duo featuring Lisa MacIsaac and Brenley MacEachern who have been making music together as a band for the past 25 years. Lisa and Brenley have roots in rural Cape Breton and their music reflects that, but it also contains more contemporary and modern elements. Madison Violet has built an international following with their blend of folk, pop, and Americana. Their performances are filled with rich harmonies and lyrical honesty complemented by their skilful command of a variety of instruments. Over the course of five albums and more than ten years of relentless touring, powerhouse duo Cassie and Maggie from Nova Scotia have emerged as a fixture on the global folk stage. Putting their own 21st century stamp on the Celtic soundtrack of this nation, the sisters seamlessly weave their deep Celtic heritage with contemporary influences and an exhilarating energy that is hard to resist. Liz Doherty, Andrea Beaton, and Kimberley Fraser have been regular performers at Celtic Colours since the earliest days of the festival. Liz has performed with a wide variety of artists at Celtic Colours over the years including her group Bumblebees, with west coast multi-instrumentalist Daniel Lapp and all-star Nordic-Celtic group String Sisters, and on her own. It’s been almost ten years since Liz played the festival and it will be very exciting to see her teamed up with two of Cape Breton’s finest, Andrea Beaton and Kimberley Fraser, both recognized for their fiddling, piano playing and step dancing. Join them all in Baddeck on this Wednesday for a well-deserved girls’ night out of good tunes and guaranteed good times. [19+, ID Required]
