Iain MacQuarrie

Cape Breton

Quiet and unassuming, Iain MacQuarrie is quickly making a name for himself as a piano player in the local area of Inverness County. He has a passion for the Scottish tunes and works tirelessly fine tuning his skills on piano. Iain is from a musical family and first came to the stage as a step-dancer. He has the old style of dancing—nice and close to the floor and true to the Gaelic tradition—and would often attend Colaisde na Gàidhlig [the Gaelic College] in St. Ann’s during the summer when his mom, Cheryl, worked as one of the dance instructors. After living in the Middle East for eight years, Iain moved back to Mabou and embraced his roots. He performed in his first Celtic Colours with the dance group Sgiobalta in 2014. A fixture at the piano during after-hours sessions last year, this will be Iain’s fourth time performing in the Festival.
