Kyle MacDonald

Cape Breton

Kyle MacDonald has been performing and volunteering in Cape Breton communities for years. While he has travelled this island connecting and continuing the Gaelic ceilidh traditions, Kyle has collected many great tunes and stories. He has been featured on BBC Alba Radio nan Gàidheal and CBC Mainstreet Cape Breton this year and performed at KitchenFest!, Big Pond Festival, Broad Cove Scottish Concert, and Feis an Eilein – Eilean na Nollaig. A proud member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association, he plays regularly at Judique’s Celtic Music Interpretive Centre, The Red Shoe in Mabou, Port Hawkesbury Ceilidhs, Glenora Distillery, and The Doryman Pub in Chéticamp. During the spring of 2025, Kyle received the tremendous gift of a hand-crafted violin made by his uncle Bill MacDonald (Inverness/Judique). The instrument is a true expression of the generosity, faith, and sharing of good deeds exhibited by Bill and his wife Leona. Kyle is currently working on a new album with fellow “Big Sampie” Award winners Jason Roach on piano and James MacLean on guitar, recorded by Mike Shepherd at Lakewind Sound Studios.
