Roo & Neil

For over a decade, Roo Geddes and Neil Sutcliffe have combined their shared experience across classical and traditional Scottish music to create new original music for violin and accordion. Their compositions are inspired by landscape and people, and by how music can evoke a sense of place and community. Their music was selected as a winner of Fèis Rois’ In Tune with Nature competition and they were honoured to receive Celtic Connections’ Danny Kyle Award. Roo and Neil have released two albums—Homeland (2022), featuring long-form compositions blending their shared background in folk, classical and jazz, and Play It Again (2025) presenting an unarranged, improvisational approach to trad tunes, responding to the time, place, people and landscape of the moment. They maintain a busy concert schedule performing for jazz, classical, and folk audiences alike, from rural touring to venues including the Usher Hall and the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. They also enjoy a close relationship with charity Live Music Now, bringing dozens of performances to secluded and underprivileged communities.
