Westward The Light

Scotland

Westward the Light is a Scottish folk quartet, creating a new expression of an age-old sound. On fiddle, viola, piano, and guitar, the band’s powerful and dynamic music is reflective of upbringings immersed in the nature and landscapes of Scotland. After years of collaboration in a range of settings, bandmates Charlie Grey, Sally Simpson, Owen Sinclair, and Joseph Peach formed Westward the Light to make instrumental Scottish music in a way both true to their traditional roots and pointing to the future. Since getting together, the band has entertained and enthralled audiences in venues large and small across the country, from concert halls to village halls, and released two albums. Their self-titled debut (2020) entered the official UK Folk Top 40 and attracted great critical acclaim, while their hotly-anticipated second album, Flow Country (2023), saw both the development and refinement of their approach, and was followed by a number of headline shows, including at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections Festival. We are looking forward to Westward the Light’s first appearance at Celtic Colours this year.
