While fiddle and bagpipes are fairly common instruments in the traditional music scene, each is a difficult instrument to truly master. So it’s not very often that you come across someone who plays both the fiddle and the bagpipes. Tonight we just happen to have two young Gaels who can speak to that unique skill. Cape Bretoner Kenneth MacKenzie and Malin Lewis from Isle of Skye, Scotland, will share their talents on both instruments tonight and likely have a chat about mutual tunes in common. Malin will be joined on stage by Sally Simpson (fiddle) and Luc McNally (bouzouki), while Kenneth’s crew includes fiddler Ian MacDougall, piano-player Mac Morin, and Patrick Gillis on guitar. Rounding out the night is the father-son duo of Michael and Tracy Cavanaugh from nearby Englishtown. We’ve borrowed the title for tonight’s concert from Kenneth’s outstanding 2010 debut album, which was recorded with his brother Angus and produced with the assistance of the Celtic Colours Drive’ers Association.
