From the rocky coastlines of Cape Breton Island and the Scottish Highlands and Islands to the open prairie skies of the west, this concert brings together a unique group of artists whose music reflects a strong sense of place, tradition, and storytelling. With a blend of fiddle, guitar, piano, Gaelic song, harp, and original songwriting, the evening promises a rich and varied musical journey. Glenn Graham and Rodney MacDonald are known for their driving Cape Breton fiddle style, shaped by generations of family tradition. Joined by guitarist James MacLean, whose flat-picking style blends tradition with contemporary nuance, and the versatile piano stylings of Howie MacDonald, the ensemble delivers the energy, rhythm, and drive that Cape Breton fiddle music is known for. Making her Celtic Colours debut, Connie Kaldor brings a distinctly western voice to this concert. A trailblazer in Canadian folk with more than four decades of touring and recording behind her, Connie’s songs are full of memorable melodies, humour, and a strong connection to life on the prairies. A native Gaelic speaker, Margaret Stewart was raised in a community where oral tradition, music, and local history were central to daily life. Her deep-rooted connection to this heritage has shaped her as both a tradition-bearer and internationally respected singer. Margaret is performing with highly accomplished Scottish Highlands harper Ingrid Henderson. This is a concert where regions meet, traditions intertwine, and music paints a vivid picture of the places we call home. Whether drawn to the pulse of the fiddle or the poetry of song, listeners will find much to love about this cross-country, trans-Atlantic journey.
