We’ve been givin’er on Thanksgiving weekend for long enough now that it’s become a Celtic Colours tradition. It started years ago as a night out to celebrate with everybody home for the long weekend from University and off-island jobs. And it’s turned out to be quite a way to give thanks! Tonight we’ll celebrate with lively tunes, beloved songs in English and French, and world class dancing. Lennie Gallant has spent decades translating life on Prince Edward Island into songs that the rest of the world has embraced wholeheartedly. The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Famer and recent East Coast Music Award winner will get the night going, and you’re sure to find yourself singing along at some point. Cape Breton trad powerhouse Beòlach’s exciting arrangements of traditional Cape Breton, Scottish, and Irish tunes will fill the room with fiddles, bagpipes, piano, and guitar. And Kevin Henderson and Neil Pearlman will keep the energy up in their first appearance at Celtic Colours as a duo. We’ve seen each of them here before—Kevin with Fiddlers’ Bid and The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, and Neil with Pine Tree Flyers and Farsan—and we’re excited to hear what the Shetland fiddler and innovative, in-demand piano-player from New England have in store. The MacArthur Dancers have performed with a who’s who of East Coast artists and their unique and creative choreography will be on display as they take the stage with each of tonight’s performers.
