This special concert marks thirty years of Ceòlas, a mighty milestone for the influential Gaelic music and cultural program based in South Uist, Scotland. Originally established as a summer school in 1996 with the aim of reintroducing aspects of Gaelic music and dance from the Nova Scotian Gàidhealtachd, the organisation has grown to deliver a year-round programme locally, nationally and internationally. Founded by Scottish musician and bagpipe maker Hamish Moore, Ceòlas has built lasting ties with Cape Breton over the decades, with musicians, dancers, and teachers—particularly from the Mabou area—exchanging knowledge, repertoire, and friendship across the Atlantic. This celebratory performance features longtime collaborators and tradition bearers from both Scotland and Cape Breton. Together, these artists embody the spirit of learning, exchange, and shared cultural pride that Ceòlas has fostered over three decades. If you are interested in the musical and cultural connections between Scotland and Cape Breton, this is a concert you don’t want to miss. It is a tribute to those connections and the enduring power of Gaelic music and community.
