A native of Chéticamp, Cape Breton Island’s largest francophone community, Chris Babineau has taken both traditional French and Scottish culture to heart. Since 2010, he has been Ashley MacIsaac’s go-to guitarist, and is in high demand for fiddling accompaniment across Canada. One of his proudest achievements is co-producing and performing on the late Marc Boudreau’s 2012 album, Live at the Doryman. A versatile guitarist who also plays bass, Chris has performed with a long list of Cape Breton fiddlers including Andrea Beaton, Howie MacDonald, and Colin Grant. Nowadays, Chris is mostly focused on his construction business, but you can find him performing at many ceilidhs and concerts in the Halifax region. He will be performing with the versatile and talented Tracey MacNeil on piano at the Festival this year.
