Seonaidh MacIntyre

Scotland

Seonaidh MacIntyre is a musician and piper from Loch Carnan in South Uist, an area renowned for its deep-rooted tradition of music and song, particularly piping. He studied for a HNC in traditional music in Lews Castle College, Benbecula, before going on to study the BA in Applied Music at Strathclyde University. His music has strong Hebridean roots and draws upon his upbringing in a Gaelic speaking community. From an early age, he was taught by Dòmhnall Bàn MacDonald and later mentored by Iain and Allan MacDonald of Glenuig through his university studies. A piper first and foremost, Seonaidh also sings, plays the whistle, guitar, small pipes and the border pipes. He remains highly sought after as a performer, primarily with his main band Trail West, but also as a collaborator on various projects. Beyond performance, Seonaidh is a highly regarded tutor, specialising in the light music of the bagpipes. Drawing from his deep knowledge of traditional Gàidhlig music, he has spent years refining his craft as a piper for dancing and live performances on some of Scotland’s largest stages.
