Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich was born into a famous musical family and soaked up the music and song of West Kerry from an early age. Breanndán is a major figure in Irish traditional music and clearly states that “his music could not exist were it not for the mountains, seas and storms of his native Dingle Peninsula”. He has four acclaimed solo albums to his name, as well as numerous recordings with the group Boys of the Lough and Beginish. He has guested with Glen Hansard and John Sheehan in the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Breanndán has also been a frequent musical collaborator of award-winning Cape Breton fiddler Rosie MacKenzie (Rose Morrison) in recent years and the two got to reconnect at Celtic Colours in 2018 as part of the Voices of the Naomhóg project. Ó Beaglaoich, who has just released his memoir in Irish and English translation, will be performing at the Festival this year with Rose Morrison and in a quartet with Rose, Tim Edey, and Dave Gunning.
