Graham Marshall
Graham Marshall comes from Unamaki’k (Cape Breton Island). A founding member of the Sons of Membertou, he has been a pivotal force in the musical and cultural scene and an ambassador for his tribe, the Mi’kmaq, for several years, performing and showcasing his culture throughout the world. And now, the world has been coming to him in Cape Breton. A storyteller, singer, and knowledge keeper, Graham tells the story of the first peoples of this land, sharing Mi’kmaw culture with his captivating vocals, compelling lyrics, and dynamic melodies, all anchored by the rhythmic heartbeat of the drum. His interest in Ethnomusicology has taken Graham to universities around the world as a guest lecturer from Istanbul to Wellington, New Zealand, to performing at the Smithsonian FolkLife Festival in Washington, DC. Graham co-wrote a song with Rose Morrison and appears on her critically acclaimed album The River She Knows. He will be performing with Rose and on his own during Celtic Colours this year.
