Kathleen MacInnes

Kathleen MacInnes is a Scottish singer and actress who performs primarily in Scottish Gaelic. Hailing from South Uist in the Western Isles, she grew up immersed in Gaelic song, language, and culture. Twice winner of major honours at the Scots Trad Music Awards — Gaelic Singer of the Year (2006) and Best Album for Cille Bhrìde (2012) — she has become one of the most respected voices in traditional music. With performances spanning film, television, and stage, Kathleen recorded vocals for Ridley Scott’s Hollywood movie Robin Hood (2010) and was vocalist on London West End’s production of Macbeth starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo (2024/2025). Deeply rooted in her Gaelic heritage, Kathleen’s music reflects her connection to the landscapes and traditions of the Hebrides. She has performed and toured internationally from Cape Breton to Italy, Ireland, Australia, and Jordan, and continues to champion Gaelic through song and collaboration. Performing at the festival for the fifth time this year, Kathleen will be singing with the Unusual Suspects of Celtic Colours and on her own in various communities around the island throughout the week.
