Rose Morrison

Embodying the roar of the sea with a pure and delicate voice, Rose Morrison is a versatile musician from Baddeck, Victoria County. She has toured and recorded with Oscar and Grammy Award winner Glen Hansard, Irish folk legend Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich, and celebrated Scottish-Canadian tenor John McDermott. She’s performed twice at Carnegie Hall, recorded three albums and travelled all over North America, Europe, and Japan with The Cottars, and won three East Coast Music Awards. A well-established fiddler who draws from a deep well of fierce, untamed wildness, Rose is also a poignant and insightful songwriter, as revealed on her third album, The River She Knows (2024). In 2025, Rose and Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich released their duo album, Sea Roads, celebrating transatlantic connection through music, language, and shared cultural traditions. She also completed a residency at Cape Breton University, continuing her exploration of art and music that honours land, story, and spirit, and was named the first-ever Artist in Residence for Sable Island, where she spent 19 days in October composing, painting, and developing an ongoing body of work inspired by the island’s landscapes, history, and wildlife. In addition to recording and performing, Rose is Artistic Director of the Little Church in Big Baddeck—a popular series showcasing international artists in a quaint and intimate rural setting.
