Roger Boudreau & Marcel Le Fort

Originally from Chéticamp, Roger Boudreau and Marcel Le Fort began their musical journey with influential band The Phantoms. After many years pursuing musical and professional careers in Montreal and Cape Breton, the two reunited in 2019 and became involved with the Cercle musical francophone de Sydney. Today, they also perform an array of timeless hits, East Coast favourites, and musique en français at various venues. In early 2026 the Centre Communautaire Étoile de l’Acadie in Sydney, was invited by the FéCANE (Fédération Culturelle Acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse) to attend an Acadian cultural workshop in Halifax, alongside representatives from the eight Acadian communities of Nova Scotia. It was during this workshop that the idea was born to write songs telling the story of the Acadians in Sydney, Nova Scotia. In collaboration with Marcel, they started to write songs recounting the history of Acadians in Sydney: beginning in Grand-Pré in 1682 with the cooperation between the Acadians and the Mi’kmaq, continuing with the Acadian presence at the Fortress of Louisbourg starting in 1713, the Deportation of the Acadians in 1755, how Acadians survived in early Sydney, and who they are today—proud of their journey, their heritage, and still a vibrant culture.
