A native of Chicago’s South Side, internationally acclaimed fiddler and composer Liz Carroll is one of Irish music’s brightest stars. Her talent and dedication to her craft have earned her a National Heritage Fellowship, a Grammy nomination, and the Gradam Ceoil TG4 Composer of the Year award, honoring her contributions to the repertoire of Irish music. Liz has toured as a solo artist and with the Greenfields of America, Trian, as the duo Liz Carroll & John Doyle, String Sisters, and now as a duo with guitarist and pianist Jake Charron. Liz’s latest book of tunes is Collected III and she’s presently working on Season 3 of The Lizzes Podcast with her good pal, fiddler Liz Knowles. Jake Charron has been busy the past 12 years writing music and touring the world with Juno award-winning band The East Pointers. When he is not on the road, he is in the studio, producing and recording music with some of the finest musicians on the scene. As a multi-instrumentalist and collaborator, Jake has released critically acclaimed duo albums with Grammy-nominated fiddle player Liz Carroll, and Canadian fiddle player Shane Cook. Jake is a co-founder of SpaceCamp Studios in Charlottetown, and has been recording and producing award winning music for The East Pointers (PE), Kinley (PE), Noah Malcolm (PE), Inn Echo (PE), Luka Hall (PE), Trials of Cato (UK), Waymzy (ON), David Howley (IRE), Trad Attack (Estonia), and 6 Hearts (featuring members of The East Pointers and Vishten). Together, Liz and Jake look forward to sharing new music, along with music from their album Half Day Road, with the wonderful audiences at Celtic Colours.
