Leanne Aucoin

Leanne Aucoin is a multi-talented musician from Sydney Mines, Cape Breton County who comes from a family steeped in Cape Breton music and tradition. She has performed in many parts of Canada, the U.S., and Ireland. Having a passion for teaching, Leanne has been able to pass on the tradition of Cape Breton music and dance to her own students, at workshops and at the world-famous Colaisde na Gàidhlig [the Gaelic College] in St. Ann’s. Leanne released her debut album, All Set, in 2006. A traditional album featuring Tracey Dares-MacNeil, Dave MacIsaac, and members of her family, it was recognized by the East Coast Music Awards with a nomination in the category of Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year in 2008. Leanne will be performing at the Festival this year in Chéticamp with Hilda Chiasson and Chris Babineau, and in Baddeck with Stephanie MacDonald and Susan MacLean.
