Born on Cape Breton and nurtured within its rich musical heritage, fiddler Kimberley Fraser has built a distinguished career, performing all over the world at venues from Afghanistan to Victoria. She holds degrees in Violin performance from Berklee College of Music–where she was a member of The Berklee World Strings, and also a degree in Celtic Studies and Jazz Piano from St. Francis Xavier University. A master at the trio of fiddling, step dancing and piano, Kimberley is a much sought-after performer and teacher for all three. She has released two albums, Heart Behind the Bow (2000) and Falling on New Ground (2006), winner of the East Coast Music Award for Roots / Traditional Album of the Year. A past Artist in Residence at Celtic Colours (2013), Kimberley has performed at the Festival regularly since 2000 and is currently a full-time faculty member of the Music Arts program at the Nova Scotia Community College’s Marconi Campus in Sydney.
