Rìoghnach Connolly

Northern Ireland

Ríoghnach Connolly is a traditional Irish singer and flute player from County Armagh, recently named Folk Singer of the Year by both BBC Radio 2 and RTÉ Radio 1 in 2025. Raised in a rich musical household and nurtured through the Armagh Pipers’ Club, she carries forward a deep familial and cultural legacy of song. Now based in Manchester, Ríoghnach is a powerful vocalist, flautist, lyricist, and musical activist, known as much for her irreverent humour as for her emotionally charged performances.

Rooted in the traditions of sean-nós and Irish folk, her sound also draws from blues, jazz, and global folk styles, blending heritage with contemporary influences. She performs and records internationally with celebrated acts including The Breath, HoneyFeet, Band of Burns, Lí Ban and Peter Gabriel. For her Celtic Colours debut, she will be joined by fellow Armagh native Alison Crossey on bodhrán and guitar.
